In the morning, we went to the marina laundry mat.  Chris and I did school there.  On a break, I was throwing rocks into the water.  When I was about to throw a rock, I saw something that looked like a huge fish, but the tail was a mammal's tail, so  I thought it was a whale.  I yelled "whale" and Chris ran over and didn't see the tail at all, and thought it was a Goliath Grouper.  Then I saw the head and realized it was a manatee.  Chris and I were shouting to Mom "manatee, manatee" and she thought we were saying "manta ray."  Then she came over and realized it was a manatee. The water was very clear and we could see the whole manatee.  It was huge, with a very tiny head.  It lifted its head out of the water twice and hung right around us for a while, before it slowly swam away.  It was awesome!  That is the first manatee I have ever seen.

After laundry and school, we went home and Chris and I went fishing.  Chris caught one pinfish and I caught nothing.

In the afternoon, we went to a very nice beach.  We took a bus to get there and then had to walk a long way to the beach.  It was a state beach called Fort Zachary Taylor Beach.  There was a Civil War Fort there too, built in 1845.  It was used all the way through the Civil War, WW I and WW II.  It was kind of like Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas, but this fort was smaller and was falling apart.  We had a lot of fun at the beach and the fort.  I am sad.

April Fools!  Got you, didn't I?  I am happy!

Wednesday, 4/2/08

We didn't do much today.  I did some school in the morning and then I played and Chris and I went fishing.  Chris caught 18 fish and I caught 2 fish.  I had fun.  I am happy.

Thursday, 4/3/08

Today we stayed at the coffee shop almost all day.  We got there in the  morning and ate breakfast there.  Mom and Dad worked on the computer and Chris and I did school.  Mom also updated the website.  After school, when we weren't helping her, Chris and I played chess.

When we finally left the coffee shop, we caught the bus to the shopping center.  We went to Albertson's, K-Mart, and Office Max.  We bought a lot of things.  I got new shorts and bathing suits.  They are nice.  I am happy.

Friday, 4/4/08

Today we did school and about nothing else.  Tomorrow we will leave to go to the Bahamas.  It will take about two days to get there.  I am looking forward to getting to the Bahamas.  I am

Saturday, 4/5/08

Today we left to go to the Bahamas.  It is a very rough ride.  We got fuel at the fuel dock.  Then, as soon as we left, it was rough.  The weather said that there would be south and southeast winds (which we wanted), and 2 to 4 foot waves (also what we wanted), but we never saw south or southeast winds, and the waves were (and still are) 6 to 8 feet!  That is why I didn't put an exclamation point at the first sentence.  I am happy. (I don't know why.)

Sunday, 4/6/08

Nothing happened today except ... we caught 2 fish!  They were both pompano dolphin (a very good eating type fish, not a mammal).

The seas were still very rough because of a squall (okay-sized storm) that hit us last night.  But they finally calmed down in the afternoon.  We should be in the Bahamas tomorrow when I wake up.  I am happy.

Monday, 4/7/08

Today we arrived in the Bahamas!  We took a slip in the marina.  Everything is wet on the boat, so we have to rinse everything with fresh water and let it all dry.  Our mattresses and bedding got all wet, so we all have to sleep in the middle part of the boat for awhile. I get to sleep on the settee and Chris will sleep on the floor.  Mom and Dad will sleep on the table that makes a bed.

The marina is a huge resort.  There is a lot to do here, including glass-bottom kayaks, a pool, and a hot tub!  But today, we just hung out on the boat, cleaning.  I am happy.
