Today is February 1st!  We went to Beach Church in the morning.  The kids sit in the swinging tree and take part in the service from there.  We are called "tree angels."

After a short day of school, we dinghied to the beach.  I met four new kids:  Emily, Logan, Jake, & Mark.  Emily is 8 yrs. old, Logan is 10, Jake is 12, & Mark is 13.  We played for a while.

For dinner tonight, we went to St. Francis to eat and watch the Super Bowl. The Pittsburgh Steelers were playing the Arizona Cardinals.  We were rooting for the Steelers. So was Barack Obama. I enjoyed watching the game, but we could only stay for three quarters because we were getting really tired.  The half time show was performed by Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, one of our favorite bands.  He sang "Born to Run," "Born to be the Boss," "Glory Days," and one other song.  Those are some of my favorites.  It was very exciting.  In Vegas, Dad must have been going crazy.  Bruce Springsteen is his favorite artist and he has traveled all over to see him in concert.  When we left, the Steelers were winning.  Tomorrow we will find out who won.   I am happy. ©

The Steelers won last night.  That's good.

Instead of school today, we went to town to sell Regatta T-shirts and hats with Mr. Floyd and Mrs. Fran from Prior Ties, and Mr. Bill from Rocinante.  Chris worked on the dinghy dock greeting people and encouraging then to come buy a t-shirt or hat.  I did that for a while too, but I mostly worked behind the stand getting t-shirt sizes and hats when we needed them.   We sold 37 t-shirts and 14 hats, so we sold 51 items!  We worked from 9am - noon.  It was kind-sorta fun.

At the beach this afternoon, I played soccer with Logan, Mark & Jake, but half way through the game, I got hurt and sat out, so there weren't an even number of players and they stopped playing.  We also went to Oceanside with Emily, her family, and Mr. Bill on Charisma.  We were hoping to see whales, but we didn't see any.  Emily, Chris and I ran around the paths and had fun bodysurfing.  I am happy. ©

We have been cruising for a year!  Today was very windy and a squall (storm) came in the morning, so we stayed on the boat all day.  We did a bit of extra school to make up for yesterday.  Mr. Brian came over with Geneva to do something (I have no clue what).  Geneva looked at books and borrowed a few, but they didn't stay long.

We saw dolphins jumping by our boat in the anchorage this afternoon.  There were two adults and a baby.  The baby was jumping and playing and sticking his tail in the air.  It was cute.  They stayed for a long time.  I am happy. ©

Today was good.  I did four subjects in school quickly by 10:00am.  At that time, we left in the dinghy to go get our propane tank filled in town.  When that was done, we went to a HAM seminar at Hamburger Beach.  We ate lunch there.  My hot dog was good, but the seminar was boring.

Then we went to the beach.  There were no other kids there, so Chris and I played volleyball.  But Kaeo & Bird (I don't know her real name, but that's her nickname) on Osprey came, so we played.

After dinner, we all sat in Mom's bed and watched three funny episodes of The Beverly Hillbillies.  I am happy. ©

Thursday, 2/5/09

Today was great.  School got messed up because Mom needed to go to a choir practice at 1:00.  She dropped Chris and me off at the beach.  All the kids except Emily were there (Brady, Brian, Ann Marie, Erin, Geneva, Dakota, Declan, Logan, Jake, Mark, Bird, & Kaeo), so we played a huge game of soccer and two games of Capture the Flag.  I had a lot of fun.

We watched three more episodes of The Beverly Hillbillies this evening.  I am happy. ©

At noon today, Mr. Olli on Dejarlo did a kids' volleyball clinic on the beach.  All the kids came.  He showed us how to bump, set, and spike (which I already knew), and then we played a small game.  I didn't learn anything new, but I got good practice.

At the beach this afternoon, we played Capture the Flag twice.  My team lost one game and won one game.  We also played a huge game of volleyball - all the kids against three dads, but we lost.  We lost because we couldn't spike the ball like they could because we are not tall enough.  I had fun.  I am happy. ©

Saturday, 2/7/09

At 11:00am, we went to a seminar at St. Francis.  There was a coral biologist named Dr. Mueller who explained all about coral.  I didn't know that too much algae can kill the coral because it prevents sunlight from reaching the coral.  I learned that sea urchins come out at night and eat the algae off the coral.  I thought they eat seagrass.  I also didn't know that coral could get diseases.  A lot of coral is dying.  Dr. Mueller explained some of the reasons why.  It was interesting.

We went to the beach after that and played tag, volleyball and other stuff.   I am happy. ©
